  • Prickly pear (Opuntia ficus-indica) goes by many names, such as tuna, sabra, nopal, barbary fig, indian fig, christian fig, etc. It is a species in the Cactaceae family (cactus), known as “THE MIRACLE PLANT”, and is believed to be native to Mexico. The prickly pear cactus is part of Mexico's coat of arms. In most Prickly pear species, the pads, flowers and fruit are edible, and have been used in many dishes by Mexicans and people in Central America since ancient times.
  • Prickly pear seed oil, or Barbary fig seed oil, is a 100% pure natural oil extracted by cold-pressing from prickly pear seeds. It is rich in unsaturated fatty acids at over 80%, with the main component being the essential fatty acid omega-6 Linoleic at over 60% and omega-9 oleic at about 20%, along with vitamin E, K, amino acid, phytosterols, polyphenols and betalains, as well as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, making Prickly pear oil another excellent oil for skin care.
